About Me:
I started losing my hair in 2004 and I've been officially diagnosed with Scarring Alopecia for 2 years now. Being in the military, most of the doctors didn't know what was going on and I've been told that I may have Lupus or Thyroid Disease "and that's why your hair is shedding."
So since then, I've learned how to do my own hair or I just invest in wigs. Every time I change up my hair, the balding spot on my head seems to have gotten bigger! I've almost reached that comfortable place to where I've stopped crying. I just gently comb my hair and pull the hair from comb and say a silent eulogy and shed a tear to the hair that I'm dropping in the trash. I'm also a part time make up artist and I guess I do that more because it brings me joy. Bottom line is this.....I'm still trying to figure out how to live with it.
Do you have alopecia?
Scarring alopecia
Are you age 18 or older?

Hi - if you still live in San Diego and would like to meet some local folks with Alopecia, we're having a lunch to celebrate International Alopecia Day, Saturday, August 4, 2012.

We're having lunch (margaritas if you want) at Tio Leo's Mexican restaurant at 3510 Valley Centre Drive in Del Mar (It's actually in Carmel Valley, right off Hwy 56 and I-5). You can view their menu here: http://www.tioleos.com/

They're not charging us for the room, but there is a $10 per person (food and beverages total) minimum charge.

Gathering time is 11:30am - it will be casual and will continue as long as we're having fun. I'll bring my "International Alopecia Day" banner and anyone who wants to be in the photos for our annual YouTube video can. If you don't want to be in the photos, that's fine, too.
We have a private room in the back of the restaurant. Come bald, in a scarf, or in a wig - or in your hair if you have it!

Please let me know if you're planning on attending so I can give the

    HI,

Did you find any treatments that worked or have helped.  I am in the same boat and have resorted to wigs only in the past few years.

    Thanks!
