About Me:
Here is my alopecia story:

Around the beginning of May, I noticed that I had a bald spot on the left side of my head (going towards the back). It was the size of a quarter... At first, I thought it was my barber that messed up my hair cut, but after approaching him about it and having time pass, it actually got bigger.

After some time, I got tired of trying to hide my bald spot so I decided to impulsively shave it all off a week prior to the National Bald Out Day.

At first, having a bald head was no easy task. I wasn't great with a shaver. I went from a nice bald head done by my barber, to doing it on my own and having razor bumps and cuts and even mosquitoe bites from being outside! Now I take great precaution with my head care and its back to normal.

I've received mixed reactions with "my new look". I thought it would change me in a bad way, but it actually changed me for the better. "The better" meaning that I'm still able to be my crazy self all the while
Just learning that because of I have alopecia, I don't have to become a shadow of who I am and will always be.

Of course I'm still self conscious. Of course I still think about this condition all the time. Hey, what can I do? I'm just trying to
not let this get the best of me...

And YOU ALL shouldn't let this get the best of you too!

:::Update 11/16/09:::

So alopecia emailed me to update my profile... so I shall. I found a new decent job in the restaurant industry and I have an amazing girlfriend that doesn't care about my alopecia. Definitely can't complain.

    Hey, your head will be just as big if you don't shave it! :)
    I'd say go for it. Then you won't have to worry about going swimming.
    And get another barber!! Who needs the negativity?
    Good luck, let me know what happens, okay?
    If some of these women can shave their heads and walk around without a hat or wig, I know you can,too!
