I was diagnosed with severe androgenic alopecia towards the end of my senior year of high school (2005), which at the time was a pretty major blow. I've mostly come to terms with the idea of being bald before I hit 30 and have been looking into a proper solution for when that time comes. Luckily, I have an amazing significant other who I can be totally open with about all the anxiety and daily hair rituals that come with being a balding girl.
My current treatment is just 2% Rogaine in the morning and 5% at night. In the past Finasteride was a part of the mix and I think I actually had pretty good results-- at the very least it was slowing down the hair loss. Now that I'm just on the Rogaine, things are going down hill... slowly but I don't really want to go back on the Finasteride because of some of the more serious side effects it carries.
Other than fretting over my hair, I enjoy playing my guitar, bass, and drum kit. I'm also a major geek and love to screw around with computers, computer games, and Linux distros. I'm currently going to school and majoring in Telecommunications Administration with an emphasis in Linux Admin.
Hello Natalie. I was just browsing the site and came upon your profile. I see you're the same age as me, with the same problem. Just thought I stop in and let you know that you are not alone. Hope all is well. Sincerely, Jessica.
