About Me:
I have alopecia areata since I was 5 years old with quarter size patches all over my head. I had solution applied to my patches eventually leading to hair growth.
In my early 20's I had an re-occurrence with alopecia areata. It wasn't bad only with three quarter size patches that were in tic tac toe form. I did the ointment treatment for about a month and no follicles. I then did corticosteroid injections and my tic toe tac grew. It is now in my early 30's that my alopecia areata is appearing again. This time, it's a bit severe. I notice a quarter size in Sept 2014 and had corticosteroid injection. Follicle and a bit of hair did re-grow. But by Dec 2014' clumps of hair has been coming out while combing, washing, and just randomly coming off.

Hi Nappylee! I'm Shenette, I'm 29 and I've had alopecia since I was 4, similar to you. Just when I think I'm the only one, God always seems to put someone in my path, to show me I'm not alone. I completely understand how you must feel. It's frustrating and difficult at times, and to this day I still battle the difficulties of having no hair. I haven't had a full head of hair since I was 4. I lost it completely at about 9, and had to turn to wigs. It's been rough, I've had good days along with the bad, but today all those experiences have made me a stronger person. It has taught me that hair doesn't mean anything. People will love us regardless of whether we have hair or not. People look up to us because of our courage and strength to get through the tough days. Remember, that God made a few perfect heads, and the rest he covered with hair! :) Peace, prayers, and love....Shenette
