Hi yall just found out about this site. I am 30 years old and noticed my first patch a month ago while drying my hair, went to the dr a week or so later and was dx with alopecia areata.Ive tried cortisone cream right now, but it just burns and I don't see regrowth. My first path is at the crown of my head, so its hard to cover so ive been wearing hats lots of hats. My big issue besides the hair loss is the burning like my hair is being ripped out, or burnt like a chemical straightener, im a curly hair girl so I know that all to well, but I stopped abiut 2 years ago maybe ...My dr seems to look at me like im crazy when I mention the burning ...any of yall have that issue.?
Hey girl your my first add on here too. I also experience the burning sensation you are talking about. I told my doc it felt like a hotspots and your right I think you feel the hair come out and the hotspots disappears and bam there's another bald patch :( my head seems very tender too. I just have so many questions and no one has answers for me. I know now I am not alone and look foward to exploring this site and meeting others who are going thru what I am. Emotionally I have good days and bad days, I'm just ready for the good to start outnumbering bad!!!
Best wishes!
That burning sensation occurred prior to my hair falling out in whatever area was being effected. Once the hair fell out it stopped. So did the sensitivity. I think the worst part for me was the process of it falling out. It has been a roller coaster for 25 years. Two years ago I went from Areata to Universalis. While I will never use the word relieved, I was finally able to get over the struggle and concentrate on what to do next. Got some great eyelash strips, tattooed by eyebrows and bought an awesome hairpiece and now I'm moving forward again. Sending prayers your way that your situation improves. Feel free to reach out if you need/want to talk.
