About Me:
I never had problems with my hair until March 2005 when, after two years of significant continuous stress, I lost all of my head hair in a matter of 3 weeks. Talk about shocking! That was soon followed by the eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. until soon I was like one of those weird hairless cats! It was a fairly long road to personal acceptance of my condition but I'm fully there now. I wore a wig for about a week (paid a mint for it!) but then decided I needed to learn to love the me I saw in the mirror - bald and beautiful! :-) I think it is all much harder for my young children that often get teased because of their bald mummy but I do hope that through this process, they learn that true beauty is more than skin (or hair) deep.

** update Jan 2010** Well my hair has decided to grace me with its presence again! I’ve only got one small bald patch above my left ear but I’m pleased as punch that my hair is around for the coming winter. I try to keep my hopes in check because my hair grew back once before and fell out again but this time it’s hung around for quite awhile. Long enough to go to the hairdresser and start spending all those “hair dollars” that I saved up over the last 5 years!

**further update July 2010** Hair today...gone tomorrow. **sigh** Well it’s not all gone and it hasn’t fallen out in the same manner that it did the 2 previous times (as in 3 weeks and that’s all she wrote), but I’ve got significant loss above both ears and around the back of my head. I’ve decided to just kind of let it go as it wants instead of just shaving it all off. So what if I’ve got big bald patches amongst my hair! Beside...it’s in the back...I just won’t look there! ;-) Now if it was a big patch on the top of my head and I was rockin’ the Friar Tuck, I reckon I’d be reaching for the razor. But for now...we’ll just let it be, shall we?

Hi Pamela. Sorry I havent logged on for days, too busy at work! I know my own worst enemy, Great to meet you the other day, it was nice to chat to someone with my own experiences. Would love to catch up again if you are up this way, or if I am passing through I will let you know. The kids could compare notes! I am far too busy at work this month which is not good, but then I hope to have a few days off before Christmas crazy time. What are you up to? School back today so that was good for my little one. Talk soon. Kath

hi there - I was thinking about you the other day as i was at friends swimming (without hair) and being sch hols all the kids were there (lovely inquisitive 6yr olds). They were all mesmerised with my hair, or lack of, and I had to go into all sorts of explanations. The great thing is that they all just accept it so easily. I remembered you talking about your daughters and them getting off the bus and this made me think of you. Anyway hope you are well. Talk soon. Kath
