My name is Catherine, I am 22 years old and from the New England area. I was diagnosed with Alopecia 9 years ago. I have AT but still have my eye lashes. My eyebrows are now just starting to fall out.
I was diagnosed the summer before i started high school so it was extremely hard for me. It took some time but I had the best family and friends in the world to help me through it. I joined the Cheerleading squad and lacrosse team in high school and that also helped..... I am now a senior in college and have taken part in both cheerleading and Lacrosse again.
When I was diagnosed I was in denial and refused to look into wigs because I knew my hair had to come back. Instead I would wear bandannas covering the spots and then eventually i started making my own black bandannas because black goes with everything! And now 8 years later I am having a hard time switching to wigs... Although I really want a wig! I have tried a few on, but I just think they look funny on me because I'm so used to the bandanna.
UPDATE: I am now wearing a locks for love human hair vacuum seal wig that my two sisters help make back when I was in high school... It just took me 4 years to wear it!
