Jackie you and I sound so much alike! It's been 4 years since Logan's first spots appeared and I still cry! Not as much as I did, but I still do at times. We still get looks, questions, and of course stares, but, I'm not as ill towards ppl as I use to be. I had to pray really hard to be able to cope and God helped me. If it wasn't for him, I'd be so lost and weak. I love my crazy life too and I'm sure your a lot like me and your a mover and a shaker as well. No sense in hiding, get out and live! There is noone here in my small little hick town that knows what Alopecia is. So, I do a lot of explaining lol I hated it at first, hated knowing that my child was different and had a condition. But all is well know. How are you all doing? How is Mikey's hair coming along??
Hi Jackie! Let Mikey go to pre-school. He will enjoy it. It's not the kids you have to worry about, it's parents. Kids at that age don't pay any attention to him not having hair. We had a good experience with both pre-school and now kindergarten. Kids doesn't seem to mind that Logan doesn't have any hair. At that age, they really don't notice difference much. I worry about 2cd grade! That's my fear lol Logan's head in the summer got burnt only once. He will not wear a hat EVER so I'm not sure about the fungus part. Use spf 30 on really sunny days. When it does tan, it looks so much better. Logan's hair came out in patches first, grew back (took over a year) came out in patches again, then grew back, next time the entire right side of his hair almost came out. Grew back, THEN lol he looked like a old man with no hair on top. That's when I shaved it. Looks better now. Just today I had to go to school with a parent teacher conference. Well, Logan is have a hard time pronouncing his th sounds. So for third he says fird with a f, so they want to work with him on speaking. The speech therapist was in there and also the school psychologist it's mandatory everyone with a degree be there I think lol anyways she looked at me and said I don't hink I've laid eyes on your child, the speech person said yeah you have he's the bald kid! Now mind you a year ago I'd have punched her in the face, but I looked and said there's a reason he's bald, he has Alopecia. Then, the what's that came rolling, I explained, they sat there looking at me like I'm a alien! She said oh I thought you just shaved his head.....I said well, that's what's wrong with this world everyone makes assumptions...know what that means don't ya?? Makes a ass outta you and me.. I gave her the website and told her to do research on it she couldn't even spell it lmao!! It really didn't make me mad just irritated...so prepare yourself ppl are stupid and you will find this out. LOOK OUT FOR ADULTS! THEY'RE STUPID LOL!!
Hi Jackie! We are doing good, we had him in for pictures yesterday. I wanted one last one when he still had a decent amount of hair. Looks like the top is progressing much faster than I had thought it would. One day at a time. : ) How is Mikey doing?
I see from comments below that you are worried about pre school, you're not alone. I was so excited for him till this hit. Now I'm terrifiied. But I agree with April the kids will not even notice too much it's the parents. I plan on having a talk with the school prior to starting. Hope you have a great rest of the week! Here in WI we are just happy the weather has been around a steady 50! Brayden loves getting outside to play now. Talk soon!
