I'm a suburban at home mom with nearly 20 years of nursing experience, 13 as an ER nurse. I experience total baldness first in the summer of 2007, noticing rapid hair loss in June and total baldness by early August. I was diagnosed by a skin biopsy. i've had hypothyroidism since 1996 and have maintained good levels on
Synthroid. I received multiple steroid injections in my scalp and experienced total, even thicker regrowth by the late spring 2008! Sadly, I had nearly total body hair loss again by May of 2009, just in time for my son's Bar Mitzvah , despite attempts to stop the shed with oral and injectable steroids. Now it's Jan. 2011 and without any further medical interventions I have 80% of hair re growth on my head and some signs of body hair too. Fortunately I never completely lost eyebrows or lashes.
Hi Donna, I would love to attend but I am not quite sure where that park is and have no car.. I am not native to mass, I am here for college.. but thanks for the invite!
Hi Donna,
Thanks for your reply.
I found you right here on Alopecia World.
The headband wig worked really well at the gym, I ran on the treadmill and also went for a run outside, I also did my weights and it worked a treat! My partner came with me and he also commented on how well it stood up to the exercise. I could even put the wig up into a high ponytail, which I must say felt absolutely amazing (especially when you have no hair)
Please feel free to contact me anytime,
Regards,
Lisa
p.s. I just bought another headband wig (yes, I'm addicted to wigs!) :-)
Hi Donna,
Thanks for your reply, I found you on this website.
Yes, the headband wig is absoluetly fantastic. I would recommend getting a tight one so it doesn't move but this depends on you head shape ect...
It looked great, whilst I ran, did weights and worked out onthe step machine.
Cheers
