About Me:
Hi,
I'm Nicole. At the end of 2008 I noticed a few bald spots underneath my hair. The doctor told me it was nothing and to get over it. I saw another doctor 8 months later as i had lost more hair and he believed I had some sort of rash causing hair loss ( but in fact it was my birth mark which had always been concealed by hair).

I finally went to a specialist and have been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. My eyebrows have recently started to fall out and for some reason, I care more about that than my hair. I think because I know I can easily cover my baldness with a wig.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

Hi Nicole, Whoa, I have the same pattern as you Ophiasis, and I've talked with a few others that have this pattern, they along with me, have a birthmark (stork bite) at the nape of the neck above the hairline, I first noticed on a different site that a woman who had photos of her with hair in back pulled up had same birthmark as me, she said that alot of the women with Ophiasis pattern have commented that they too have same birthmark. I am at that tettering phase right now, if I lose much more I will shave too, just trying to hold on to what I have right now, and feeling rather depressed. I have had several episodes of loss and re-growth over the last several years now, and I'm getting so tired of it, as I'm sure you understand. What kind of wig, or wigs do you wear? Do you buy on line or at a shop? sorry for so many questions but not sure what to do right now or where to go??? How do you deep your wigs on? i bought one several years back but couldn't keep on, kept slipping up :-( You look really nice in your pic. Thanks for any info you can give!!

    Hey Nicole,
It's great to hear from you.
I actually now have more than 30 wigs but most are cheap ones...I also buy my wigs from the US too at www.voguewigs.com. I agree it is sooo much cheaper.
    Happy Easter

Hi Nicole, I notice that it's a long time since you have been on here but I wanted to talk because I have exactly the she pattern- a few months ago it started at the bottom of my hair above my neck and then it spread up and around my ears. I took the decision to shave it all off because it was looking so thin and hard to cover up with my top hair. Since shaving the hair on top has re grown soft and white and iv shaved it again because it looked so thin and fluffy. I also had a red birth mark where the ophiasis pattern started at the base of my head- not sure if this is a birthmark though because it has not always been there in sure-is this connected go the alopecia? I guess I'm really just wondering where things are at for you now? Has your ever ever re grown? How are you getting on with wigs? Harriet from UK
