Hi!! My name is Amie, and I'm 35 years old. I was diagnosed with AA around the age of 10. I tried all types of treatments, yet the only one that seemed to have any results was the steroid injections. After about 10 years of those, I was no longer having results. Luckily for me I was very supported in my decision to shave most of my hair off. I had a ponytail for awhile, but since then have gone to a Mohawk and shaving the rest with razors. My Mohawk has luckily lasted about 8 years now without falling out in large amounts. However, over the last couple years, even the Mohawk has been falling out. I keep it dyed blonde, and just let be what will be. I've always been very adamant about not using wigs or scarves, and had the "take me as I am or not at all" attitude. That mentality has costs me several jobs, however, I still stand by that choice at this time. Just remember, have confidence in yourself!! Anyone who has a problem with you, really only has a problem with themselves. Be the best you, that you can be!!!
**UPDATE I'm now 37 years old and married to an amazing man. I have now lost 95% of my scalp hair, as well as arm and leg hair. My eyebrows come and go. Luckily, I pretty much really love being bald!! Definitely makes getting ready much quicker and easier!! Hope everyone is doing well!
