Katerina, I'm sure that clipping your hair in the back has nothing to do with your hair loss.
I know how hard it can be, and believe me I have heard many women say the same thing about wanting to hide. Yes, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" is a book you should read -- it will give you a lot of helpful information, including research, medical, treatment , inspirational stories from other women, and some humor, too! It has received two national awards, including Book of the Year. It's available on Amazon.com. Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.
Hugs!
Kat, thanks for the nice note. I know how difficult alopecia can be, esp. when you're new to it. Sometimes you want to talk about, and other times you want to forget, like you said. If you ever want to ask me anything or vent for support feel free. Take care & take advantage of all the wonderful people on here that can support you, help you, or give you tips. :)
And, also as far as posting a picture or esp. with telling others, it will come when you are ready. The whole thing is a process. I know for me it fluctuates, too. Sometimes I tell people, but I usually don't unless I know them well. Trust that things come in due time....your time. Take care :)
