I'm 29 years old, born in Warszawa Poland, and came to Canada when I was 6 with my mom and brother. I was just recently (5 years ago) diagnosed with AA but it's in genetic (at least for 3 generations) so I was somewhat expecting it. Although when it happened it was a bit difficult to deal with. But with a great family it has been become very easy to realize that it's not the end of the world, even though it seemed like it at the moment. My mom who has always tried to her hardest to make it better and find solutions, my big brother (who also has AA) and I think has the best attitude about it and has been a great inspiration to me and really the one person that understands what I'm going through, my boyfriend, who on the bad days reminds me that it's just hair and my best friend who is always there....
I eventually realized that AA is not a life threatening illness or a death sentence and that I should stop treating it as such.
