    Hello and welcome, Mel!

    How are you today?

Hi Mel. I saw the below comment you wrote in 2017 about the AIP diet. I'm wondering if you're still following the AIP...non-stop or intermittently... and if you've seen any further outcomes...sustained remission, changes to your hair, etc. Could you please comment here or in that thread? Thanks!

I have been super tired lately for a number of reasons unrelated to AIP (or perhaps in part because I need to get BACK to the diet!)
    I will write some now.
Yes, I tried AIP and yes I had success. With many autoimmune conditions you can see or feel a difference in 30 days to 3 months. But I listened to a podcast about how your skin (and I think that relates to hair disorders) is the "last priority" organ in your body, meaning your body nourishes and heals other organs first. SO, the tough part for people with FFA is that the elimination phase could take a year or more. Once you see improvement, that's when you add foods back one at a time. I did the diet for 10 months, 100%, and after month 5 I had regrowth of hair in the FRONT!!
Then I traveled abroad for a month and got off the diet.
I never thought I had tummy trouble or any problems with grains or foods, but on AIP I realized I did because on the diet any occasional bloating or pain was GONE! It took about 3 weeks to react to eating other foods while traveling but I definitely got a stomach ache. Long story about why I'm still not back to AIP 100%, but I am getting ready to try again. It made me realize I think I relied a lot on grains and dairy before. On AIP you have to fill up on vegetables so you eat them every meal -- and our bodies need all those enzymes and nutrients. I am still off gluten and try to eat ALL organic. Grass fed meat is also important. Organ meats and fermented foods are a plus, and the podcast said oysters and pineapples are key for hair/skin conditions. Avoid mango.
