About Me:
My alopecia started with small patches at age 5. I continued to have patchy hair loss and wear wigs until all my hair fell out at age 12. I decided to be bold when my hair grew back in only in one strip on the top of my head. I had a natural mohawk. I took advantage of the look and spiked it. At age 18 all my hair grew back. I was shocked. I met my husband at 19 and got married to find I slowly was losing my hair again. In a few weeks all my hair was gone. This time it was permanent. I did the wig thing only to find it caused more stress. I have always been a very timid and shy person due to the relentless teasing from childhood up. And then I took my wig off! Finally I was free. I accepted myself for who I am, not what others thought. I am a strong confident women now rockin' the bald look. I love life. I love people. I am a wife, mother, artist and friend. All of which can be done beautifully without hair. I can't believe how many beautiful people are here! This is amazing!

    Hi Cheryl,

I have had alopecia since July 07. Lucky for me Alopecia World was created in March 08.
I met several people here and went to the NAAF Confrence in June 08. I met people from here as well as others. I wouldnt say I was overwhelmed at the confrence more like liberated.
The time and sequence of all events were truly remarkable.
