I am 22. I found out I had alopecia when I was 20. It took its course, and eventually grew back after my 21st birthday. Its back again. My mom had it once when she was about my age, and so did her sister (my aunt). I try to deal with it the best I can. I think its best to say I have my good days and my bad days. I sometimes get frustrated about it, and sometimes I just really don't let it get to me. I try to be strong about it. I think that it takes really strong people to handle this, I do wish this time will be the last time.
but I guess we will see!
Nice to meet you. It sounds like you're having a hard time--I'm sorry to hear that. I know that will come for me too, eventually--for right now it is easy to forget I have alopecia because my spot (though large) is in the back of my head, so I don't see it. And I also chopped my hair off the day I was diagnosed, which helped quite a bit. Would you say that one of the tougher aspects of this disease is its unpredictability? I would be so sad if my hair grew back and then fell out again, as you describe. It has only been a month since I was diagnosed, so who knows what course this will take...
