I am 45 years old I have alopecia 8 years. When I was a child age 6 or 7, I had a small round bald spot on my head, which grew back. I didn't notice one again until I was in my teens. I have 4 children ages 25, 21, 19, 17. After the birth of of my 17 year old, I lost quite a lot of hair from the back of my head, but I was able to cover this as my hair was quite long. I had a miscarriage about 8 and half years ago and it was after this that all my hair fell out, including body hair, eye lashes and eye brows, I was devastated. My hair began to grow back 2 years very dark, fine a curly, my confidence along with it. I even went on hoildays abroad that year wearing a bandana during the day and a wig to go out with at night. In February of last year I began taking tablets to give up smoking and I think it was these that messed up my immune system again as my hair began to fall out again and today I have lost most of the hair on my head again, most of my body hair and my eye brows and eye lashes have almost gone. While my hair was growing back I was also taking the hair remedy nourkin, has anyone tried this.
Hello and welcome, Christine!
I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It might make you feel better. You can find out more on my page -- and let me know if there's anything else I can do!
