About Me:
I'm a 53 year old divorced mother of 3 grown kids, and 4 grandkids. Im very down to earth, easy to get along with, and very easy to talk to, I'm a little shy around people until I get to know them.

I believe I've had alopecia since my early twenties. A co-worker (a guy) use to always tell me "you have a bald spot in the back" and I would always just blow him off because he teased me all the time and because back then (early 80's) I use to roller set my hair and I just thought that I didn't comb out my parts. It wasn't until I decided to get all my hair cut short so I could wear a leisure curl that I noticed the bald spots. Not long after that, I started noticing small pimples and my head would itch. Upon scratching, I would scratch the head off the pimples which would turn into a sores, once again I would scratch and the scalbs would come off along with the hair follicle.

I started going to the dermatologist on base and they prescribed some tar shampoo that made my hair come out by the handful. Then I started the shots in my scalp which were painfull and expensive. I then tried Rogain and that only grew hairs on my face!! So then I tried hair vitamins and that only made my existing hair longer. Then I tried the laser comb treatment and that didn't work either plus this too was expensive. So for about 10 yrs I just kept taking the hair vitamins and used my remaining growing hair to cover up my bald spots but this limited me as far as hair styles and I was afraid to be in any type of wind or let my car windows down. It also interferred with me dating because I was afraid the guys would notice and ask questions. Finally in 2005 I went to a hair restoration company and purchased a hair system (after contemplating for about 5 yrs). It worked for me but was just too expensive and I had to keep signing yearly contracts. Most of the pictures you see is that hair system. This May 2010, I decided to try to lace front wig which is what you see now, which saved me about $1300 a year but I'm not happy with it either. Now I'm looking into something else, so i'm looking and listening to everyone's comments. I'm investigating the vacuum suction wigs, the freedom wigs, and now the grippers. I just want something that's secure, looks natural and won't send me to the poor house.

I still have problems dating because the guys always ask questions like "is that your real hair" and why do women feel they need to wear extentions and so on.... and I just don't like trying to explain it especially if they are not someone who is going to stick around and be in a committed relationship. I'm just tired of people judging me which is why I'm so glad that I found this site, it feels good to know there are others like me going thru some of the same problems and having some of the same issues.

Thanks for creating this site and thanks to everyone that I've had the pleasure of communicating with so far....
