things and stuff, with occasional poignant thought.

I've been away for a while. Busy, with all of those things and stuff, but thought I'd pop in and beam an update into the yonder.

I attended HairExpo2011 this long weekend with the lovely ladies (and men) of the Australian Alopecia Areata Foundation - I've been calling it the AAAF (pronounced "arf" :P ). It was fantastic! I met some of the nicest people, got to spread the good word about alopecia, and hugged some total strangers. A little exhausting, but awesome. It was also the first… Continue

Encouragement to some special friends

To all my friends here on AW, but a special shout out to Kimberly & Trish...because we started this journey together, and we are in this together. I just wanted to send special encouragement.

I am hoping you can open the link from here to hear the words.… Continue

my newest song just wrote it tonight

follow me to a place where we can be free

forever young please baby come with me

you never told me how you see the sun

without you i would be nothing to everyone

i know that your hurting inside

but its nothing to hide

dont let this be the last

just forget bout the past

and live each day for me

you can tell me why you are crying

i need you more than you need you

i can see that your really running

not quite heavens ugly angel

A song that I wrote about 3 years ago and I just finished it

UNBREAKABLE

its so hard to feel

when you dont know whats real

i wanted you to see

how much you mean to me

people are always fading

the homeless are always begging

i am always falling down

i cant stand on my own

i waited for you to come around

there is no sound

no one can heal my broken heart

now that its falling apart

im losing everything i came to be

Music Therapy

Seems to me we need to come up with some uplifting songs as therapy. Some of you have found great ones for your profile pages, but there isn't one place to collect them all. I wonder if we can list some of the songs that saved us, gave us hope, reassured us, etc. and see if rj and Cheryl can come up with a way to click on them as we do with photos and videos. If not, we can always Google the You-Tube videos or recordings.

I'll start with six:

Don't Let the Sun Catch You… Continue

Gifts?

Okay, okay!! I know I haven't been here much at all over the past few months but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. You know how it is, life just keeps handing you more and more until your hands are so full then suddenly you're 3 years old again having to keep picking up the same darn ball you keep dropping (which is incredibly funny to watch however very frustrating to experience - especially when you realize what's going on).

I moved at the end of March so it's… Continue

Bluesfest Backstage Diary #1

Last night was amazing.

I always have fun volunteering at the Ottawa Blues Festival that's held every year for a week and a half in July. This is my 3rd year as backstage hospitality, and I have to say it is the most interesting job that there is! Basically, I have to set up and take down dressing rooms, prep food trays, and, sometimes make fresh lemonade from scratch among many other special requests that I get! This also means that I get to meet and talk with the artists who play… Continue

Remember this when you're feeling sad...

Ok, well one of my life-long best friends just produced her 1st cd (which is amazing, I might add). Well one of the songs actually was one of the 1st things to make me not feel so sad about my Alopecia. I felt like she was singing it directly to me! Anytime I'm feeling the slightest bit down, I play this song and it picks me right back up. The song is called "I Wish He'd Say." Here are the lyrics. I'm posting this because I hope the lyrics will pick you up like they did for me. You can hear the… Continue
