Good afternoon, Everyone!
My name is Rebecca, 23, and I am new to Alopecia World. I thought making a blog post would be a great way to get started and to meet other people who are living life with alopecia. All of my life, I have always had long and beautiful hair. Before leaving the house, the one thing that had to be perfect was my hair.
I first noticed my hair loss starting around mid August of 2014 and was officially diagnosed with AA in October of 2014. My hair loss…

I am 42 years old. Since last October I have been gluten free. I have decided to also try to go organic and no fast foods, no artificial this or that (for the most part). I have also decided to make a choice to just eat healthy. As a side effect or perhaps result of my efforts and food choices...my hair has started to grow everywhere. Its been a month since i had also started the Probiotics in my diet. I noticed fine little hairs all over my head and in my eyebrows, about 1/8" long. My…

His little head is covered with hair with the exception of the orginal bald spot he had. That area is still covered with the fine white baby hair. Other than that, he's been doing great.
Keep your head and always have hope=)

It's been a roller coaster ride with my alopecia over the last 6 weeks. After the fourth visit to the dermatologist, I went to my hometown for 3 weeks. Around that time my biggest bald patch (the size of a matchbox) was not showing any regrowth and the others (7-8 small ones) were all showing some fuzzy growth. But 3 weeks at home did me some good. (Was it the lack of stress because of being away from office? Makes me wonder if stress was my trigger. Lately work pressure has been giving me…

Hi Everyone,
I have been experiencing hairloss which they are calling Diffuse Alopecia Areata and it is severe. It began with severe itchyness which lead me to finding a spot on the back of my head sometime in March. Shortly after that my hair began to fall out all over my head. Actally I'm not sure if it fell out or broke off, I never really seemed to have "bald" spots. It did spread to my pubic area, my underarms, and my eyebrows became a little spotty. I evenually had to shave my…

Hello!
Here is my alopecia story...
My hair started falling out in April... at first I thought it was from stress ( my dad had a stroke) but, we now found out it is alopecia. It is now September and my hair is still falling out. I got my first steriod injections 2 1/2 weeks ago and I am rubbing a liguid perscription on my spots at least twice a day. I am in my senior year of high school and this is really upsetting me. How long until I can expect some progress? In some…

It Has been about 3 months to the date that I last signed in and stated, I saw some small loss and missing eyelashes. Today, I went to the dermatologist for a follow up,. I decided to take a break from the treatments. There has been no regrowth, no eye layers remain on my right eye, and I have a small pony tail out the top of my head. I can let it down and still wear a wide headband/wrap, which is a plus. However, I'm really pretty freaking sick of it. This is the third time I have gone thru…

Spring has brought some seeds back into my head too I guess, suddenly some blonde feathery hairs have sprouted out of my head!
Not everywhere on my head, not on the sides but it's better than nothing, right?
But not only are they making a comeback on top of my head, my sideburns might be coming back too! Now I can maybe finally grow my beard and walk around with a beard and (maybe) bald head, that's cool ;D hehe
And it doesn't stop there, no no.. I feel some stubbles on my…

I went back to the dermatologist today for a follow up after my first round of steroid shots 8 weeks ago. She said she does see a little bit of regrowth! Although it's just a little, and the other hairs are still coming out like crazy, I'm still going to go ahead and shave/buzz it all off on NY Eve. I figure it's a good way to ring in the new year, which I can't wait for. 2009 hasn't been kind to me, with a bad breakup after 9 years, the passing of my Grandfather, after his short, but hard…

Hello all my AW friends! As the year starts winding down to a close, I always get a little reflective of the year's passings. For me, I think 2009 can be summed up in the phrase "It's been a BUGGER of a year". There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be happy to see the end of '09!
Many of my close friends on AW know that in '09, not only did Alopecia Areata rear it's ugly head in July, but I also found out this year that my Blood Pressure is high. If that wasn't bad enough, the stress…

I thought that it was about time that I posted another blog. I haven't blogged in a while, mainly due to feeling so low about my hairloss that I didn't want to post another negative one.
Everything is still far from rosy, but I thought that I'd try to post a positive blog focussing on the regrowth that I am having in my original spots.
It's quite hard to get decent pics but I took some today which turned out ok, not brilliant but ok.
The first one is the patch…

So I'm looking at my head in the mirror and for the last few years I have ever so slowly been getting regrowth after years upon years (about 17) of having no hair at all whatsoever. I haven't done anything differently or taken any meds so this is completely occuring on its own. About 10 years ago I stopped wearing wigs most of the time and in the last year when I've seen the most growth is the time I've started becoming more involved in helping others with alopecia. Crazy…

Friends,
I just got home (literally) from visit #3 to my dermatologist. Before I get into the results, I have to say that "wow", what a mind-numbing morning. I think I get WAY too worked up over things. I was really dreading the visit today for fear of going there, then having the derm tell me that there's not really much results. That compounded with the recent small spots I've seen come in would just be a kick to the nads. I was so worked up, my blood pressure reading in the office…

So I was sitting around watching tv last night and I ran my hand over my head (I love the way it feels shaved!) and realized the bald spots didn't feel so bald... I bolted up off the couch and ran to the mirror (haven't been looking in the mirror much lately) and lo and behold...not my whole head, but MOST of it is covered with a thin layer of white hair! Wooooo!!! Not like before with a white hair here and there...but actual white hair filling in spots! Now, it's hard to tell when it's white,…
