Herbal and natural treatment success stories?

I have had alopecia areata for about 6 years now and had lost most of the hair on my head, but am at the stage now where i have several patches of dark hair, several patches of white fuzzy hair and only a couple with no hair. This gives me hope but i want more progress and am determined to make this happen.
I am not interested in steroid injections anymore or chemical medications so I am starting to try different herbal and natural remedies.
I want to hear your success (or failure) stories. Tell me what remedies have helped you and what remedies did nothing.
Right now I am taking silica gel, using essential oils for shampoo and massage, drinking kombucha tea and a couple other things here and there.
I'm starting to get the feeling that applying things topically as well as taking things internally are part of the trick..thoughts?
Thank you! <3

I went to an Indian store and the man working there saw my bald spots and swore by a neem shampoo and an oil which many Indian woman use on their scalp to make healthy. Ive been using for some time now and i have the fuzz in my patches. As soon as my boyfriend crawls outta bed ill get the names and letchu know. Hate to wake him on his day off.

Have a great morning halina.

Its called alma hair oil and its imposed from India. Just realize it has anti oxidant in it which is awesome.

Hi Halina, Have you heard of the aromatherapy protocol published in a certain medical journal? I can't remember which journal but it was a randomized, double-blind controlled trial lasting 7 months. The aromatherapy blend uses 4 oils in a base of 2 carrier oils. I started using it within a couple months of my first areata episode and I did grow my hair back. Was it the oils? Who knows, but it might be worth a try. I did acupuncture at the same time. Here's the link where I last found it archderm If it's no longer there, let me know, I have the protocol (the 'recipe') on my hard drive. It doesn't smell bad.

Something else to consider is going on an anti-inflammatory diet. Everyone with an autoimmune disease should be on it - probably everyone, period. Dr Andrew Weil has a good one. It stresses avoiding processed foods and concentrating on whole foods. And green tea!

On the advice of my Homeopath (who is also a qualified Dr) I am drinking 50ml Aloe Juice daily and rubbing 99.9% pure Aloe Gel on my bald patches, bit too early to say if it's working.
