Hi Pam. Thank you for sharing your story. I am sorry for your loss, and your are right that there are worse things than losing hair. Also thank you for your support, my wife appreciates it!
Hey Pam,
Were you at the Manitoba marathon on the father's day weekend? I ask because my husband thought he might have seen you cheering on the sidelines on Pembina Highway. At least he thought he saw someone that looked like you. How are things?
sweet! yeah she is right in town. A horse ride would be great haha.
I should try one of your scarves, I mostly wear bandana's, I haven't found a scarf I like so that would be cool. And yeah I have quite a few wigs now too, changeing colors often, but they really only las t a fewmonths depending how much I wear them so I go through a lot. ha, it is kinda fun though.
ha well she moved there a year ago from Calgary. She doesn't know many ppl so I doubt you have met her, they have a 2 year old and are mostly liking st anne. Her husband trasferred to winnipeg for his job which is why they moved there, wanting to live not in the city. Anyway her name is Andrea. that's cool,, yeah I don't know anyone who has it either. I am sure there must be some here but have not met them.
And good for you! i used to go a bit in just bandana's and stuff but always wear a wig now unless i am home or at family or friends now. i guess i am just so used to it. i would like to go out bald sometime though, i only have a few times. but yeah you sound very confortable with it all and that is awesome!
Hey! so I live near Brandon and my sister lives in St Anne.. cool eh? I have had AU since I was 15, but get little bits of body hair now and then, so annoying! haha, anyway I have dealt lots with wigs so if you ever have issues or questions let me know. and we should have a st anne support group haha.. jk
Hi Pam
Blinkies - I LOVE that (I'm gonna steal that if you don't mind). I've gotten very good at drawing my eyebrows on and I like that I can change their shape so I can achieve different looks. I'm happy to see your sense of humour is intact though, probably one of the more important skills to accepting alopecia. I've had this for 30 years though so if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask. :)
Hi Pam, Have you heard of Giselle's hair replacement in Wpg (she's in the phone book either online or in the yellow pages under wigs) Giselle herself has alopecia. She sells fabulous looking wigs (pricey) but she also has haircutters and stylists for wigs. She is located on St. Mary's avenue. She just relocated...it was fabulous just to visit. She also sells all types of headwear, definitely worth going to. I also want to say how great it is to hear how positive you are!! It makes me smile. I'm getting to the hairpiece part of the AA...a bit scary, but there is a part of me that is excited for the hair falling out to end and to move on. Hope to keep in touch. Let me know if you need Giselle's number. Have a good one
Hey Pam,
Winnipegger here. Are you staying dry in all this flooding? I was diagnosed with AA this February. Glad you found the site. It has been so supportive.
