My age is 58 and I have had alopecia since 2000. I guess I wasn't Y2K compliant. I have attended a few NAAF conferences and found the comraderie wonderful.
This site seems to have that same feel of empathy and closeness. I am somewhat of an adventurer and love to participate in the wonders of life. I would love to meet some of the others in world like me who understand a little different perspective. I look forward to meeting those who have joined this site/organization.
Hi Janet, Thank you! Yes it has been a very trying year for me. I though it would have been easier because that I went though this with my son. but empathy is one thing but you losing your own hair is really something else. My son is my biggest support he's such a doll!!!!!
Janet hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season!
Maureen
Hi Janet, Yes it has helped Joe and I to bond. It's funny but when I go out with him and I am wearing my cap, I feel very empowered and not at all uncomfortable. He has helped me many times during some hard times i have had since i lost my hair 9 months ago. It is starting to get better though.I can go to the gym now just wearing my cap, and just today i had some questions about being bald and there were 4 people there and they knew nothing about Alopeica by the time I was done talking to them they now know what Alopeica is all three types!!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Take care Maureen
Bob, Back to the earthquakes... Have you felt any tremors from the quakes near you? Is that a common thing for your area? I would think that would be such an eerie feeling for the ground to move underneath you. We have hurricanes to deal with here. Have a great Wednesday.
What kind of work do you do?
Bob, thanks for the compliment. My granddaughter took that picture, which is probably why I look so happy.
I've been to San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles. The air in California is absolutely marvelous. I just wanted to stand outside and breathe. I've lived on the west coast of Florida for 30 (!!!) years. I really like it here. The summers can get a little heavy, but the winters are wonderful.
I hear what you're saying about retirement. That's my number 1 goal now. I'm aiming for 6 years. If only it had been my number 1 goal 30 years ago!! I'd be livin' life large on the beach right now. Oh well, as they say "Life is wasted on the young."
Have a great day. Nice chatting.

I know, people with alopecia seem to be extra nice.
How are you doing with yours?
