Hello, I've been completely bald for almost a year now and although I've become used to going out in public with no hair I hate the way people stare at me or treat me differently and I just want to…Continue

Last year, I shared with you all a blog post about my 2012. The year that my hair fell out. This year, although it's mainly about my year as a whole and not about alopecia I felt maybe some of you would like to read it. (you can follow my blog at www.learningtonurse.wordpress.com
I’ve never been a fan of new year’s, it’s a…

I remember the first time I saw my bald reflection looking back at me and thinking what a great shaped head I had. Of course I looked completely unlike anything I had ever seen in the mirror previously but I didn’t look like the hideous pictures on the doctors hand outs and at that moment, I just assumed this is how I’d look for a while until it all grew back. I felt happier at that moment than I had done for the previous few weeks having had to watch my hair thin and fall out, I felt in…

So admittedly, there is very little good about having Alopecia and whatever happens, any positives that come out of it do not, in my eyes, outweigh the terrible burden of having no hair. However, I realised one of those positives today and feel the need to share it.
In fact the drama began yesterday, in the freezing cold, wet town of Queenstown, New Zealand. I’m here for a few days after nearly a year away from home. The morning had gone well, after a disappointing beginning whereby…

It's the year which so many deemed to be our last, 2012 the year the world ends. Strangely it seemed, at many points of the year, my world did end or change unthinkably. There were certainly points; specific, small little parts of 2012 that I wished the world had ended.

Hi there!
I just wanted to share with you that I have really enjoyed reading your discussions you seem to have such a positive outlook and it is really inspirational to see. I hope I will grow to be the same :) Did you enjoy Queenstown? I am from New Zealand, Dunedin :) I go up there quite regularly to snowboard in winter etc . How did you like New Zealand ? :) thanks for your stories :) have uplifted me, so thanks :) xo
I'm in Glen Eden, which is near Henderson. Or I work in New Market / close to town. :) I have a car too, so I don't mind travelling.
Hi Kate,
That would be absolutely lovely! Where abouts in Auckland are you? :) x
Hello Kate how are you??
Hello and welcome, Kate!
How are you today? You have beautiful eyes!
I have a suggestion for you for eyebrows. I use temporary tattoo brows and get them here: www.beauti-full-brows.com. They are inexpensive and look more natural than "permanent" tattoo brows (which aren't really permanent).
