About Me
Started losing my hair at age 12 -- lost it all during 7th grade -- darkest time in my life . . . quite accepting of my bald self, now, and have a wonderful husband who thinks I'm prettier bald than when I wear my wig! :) Just recently had my first child and I've really joined this site because I'd like to be a resource for those teenagers out there dealing with alopecia. I wish I'd had someone when I was going through this and I wish I'd handled things differently way back when! :) Hang in there, everyone!

Did anybody see the Shear Genius episode where they did wigs for women with Alopecia? It was so great and educational -- the candidates were all very moved.

In middle school there was a rumor that I had cancer but it was never to the point of people making fun of me. I got rid of the rumor just as fast as it started. The only people who have bugged me about my AA is adults mainly. Sorry that kids were such jerks to you.
