My friend's bald dad and I have always had a joke about how bald people can find each other. So when we'd get seperated in a store or something, we'd take it upon ourselves to use this "power" to bring the group back together.

It may just be a joke, but at the same time I think it's fairly true. Not only am I easy to spot in a crowd, but bald heads always catch my eye. My family is always making jokes about how at conferences they would be like "Oh, there's Kristin!.. wait no.. Oh!..…

golly, it's always nice to hear how I'm pretty -even though- I'm bald.

Warms my heart to know to know it's not that grossly distracting.





You know, I think I'm pretty good at having a positive attitude about all of this alopecia junk, but sometimes it's really discourging. Why does everybody's responce to "I have no eyebrows" have to be "you can get tattoo eyebrows." Or whenever it comes up.. I was only four when I was in the bathroom, my mom brushing my hair as I stood on a stool to see myself in a mirror. "Life couldn't get any better", I thought, watching through the mirror as my mother ran the brush through my short brown hair. Little did I know my perception of life itself was about to change.

"Kristin.." my mom looked me in the eye through the mirror, "are you pulling your hair?" I answered no, not really sure how honest the answer was.
