Thanks for your info. I sure hope that the pain and itching does not mean more hair loss!

Hi Leslie,
Your story sounds allot like mine. I just turned 53, had 1 small spot in Nov...hair grew back within a month.( with no treatments) December I went to have my hair colored and cut and a few days later 2 new spots started. It has been 3 months and no new hair is growing. The dermatologist I go to sucks! 2 months ago she injected my scalp, now the bald spots look like they are sunk in. She told me that was a side effect from the injections. Nice to know now! No hair and a sunk in scalp. She told me nothing more she could do for me, maybe I should just comb my hair to the other side! Going to a different derm in April, and started acupuncture. I am willing to try anything at this point. I was wondering if you get pain and itching on your scalp? Will be waiting to hear back from you. Take Care, Katie

Hello and welcome, Leslie!
I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It might make you feel better. You can find out more on my page -- and let me know if there's anything else I can do!

I am new to Alopecia. 47 yeas old, a Realtor who has to deal with people face to face daily and my Alopecia, which my hairdresser noticed in August, is progressing. I don't know what to expect and what to do. I have been to a dermatologist and am using cortisone ointment. My eyebrows are growing back! but nothing on my scalp yet. Any support or advice?
