About Me:
Hi anyone who is interested :-) My name is Leesa, I'm 39 years old, have a wonderful partner and lots of animals on our farm.. last year i went through the most devasting time of my life to date.. I lost all my hair, way past shoulder length, within a month and a half. What a whirlwind of emotions the last 6 months have been dealing with the hair loss. I pushed a lot of people away from me, and just tried to deal with it on my own. No one understood, how can you if you dont go through it yourself ya know. So i went completely bald, I have now hair growth all over, white as snow (some parts darker), and even that is hard to deal with!! Thought i was dealing ok on my own...but i just dont think so... I suppose I might learn how to cope by hearing other peoples stories, and possibly maybe even making some new friends on here...

Hi Snowflake, love the nickname :). Thanks for leaving a message for me. Nice to meet a fellow Aussie. Actually nice to meet anyone with Alopecia. Even though I've had it almost all my life. I've only met two other people with alopecia so it's nice to start having some more contact.

Hi Donna

You dont need to apologise for anything! Its just lovely to get messages from like people..

I dont really try to think "WHY WHY WHY" did it happen to me, thats why i stopped going to specialists/doctors etc It is what it is, cant change it... the hard part is just coping and getting thru it.

Can I ask do you have a few patches that have gone Donna, or is it progressively going?

Snowflake :-)

Hi Donna,
My hairdresser also informed me. She said you have a few bald patches here, I was not even aware. Well of course I freaked out, went to doctors had all sorts of tests, and as the days went by, it just kept all coming out, especially in shower like you. I didn't have to make the choice to shave my head, as ALL my hair went, so I was bald. I did get a wig, but HATE it, and don't wear it.
I have new growth now, Snow White hair (hence my nickname - Snowflake :-) ), and have a few dark patches too...I was trying to get my head around the fact that I'm Snow White now, then these dark patches start turning up... I'm wondering whether I can get them bleached so it all blends in, at least it would be one color then, but I'm scared to do anything to the hair as its growing back. Dilemma!
Yes, I know there are worse people off than myself, I tell that to myself too, but then my doctor says also I have every right to feel how I'm feeling, it's a traumatic thing we go thru.
I refused any medication, further tests etc, and doctors told me they couldn't do anything anyways, and in a way I suppose I did accept it - I thought it is what it is, I can't change it... But it's just hard ya know...
:-) Snowflake
