Hello Fellow Alopecians! There is so much info on ordering wigs, however not as much information about the condition of these wigs a few months or a year after they're ordered. I've had cheap indian remy wigs last me two to three years, and some more expensive European hair wigs last less than a year. I'm so curious to know how others' wigs are holding up at the one year mark ... would love to see photos and review of one year old wigs! And please share name of manufacturer, where you ordered, and approx. price point.

Natural European hair (if vendor is telling the truth) last much longer with no tangles but then you are paying thousands for those wigs instead of hundreds. I would rather get several lower cost wigs in the hundreds and take care of them rather than pay thousands.
Thats exactly the view I take Shari. I expect my wigs to last at leat a year (although the newest one is always worn for best) any longer is is a bonus and my current everyday wig is 18 months old but will be replaced soon. I could prolong their life by having them repaired but repars are expensive and at $400 for a new custom made wig it's really more cost effective to but a new one. I have had Indian remy hair wigs and I never noticed that their life was any shorter. What I didnt like about them was their tendancy to develp a deep body wave when they became wet which was difficult to completely remove, even with a flat iron.

Sue, I suppose our search will be endless. I know what you mean about the hair quality. I felt my Jon Renau wigs had bad hair and I could not flat iron enough to get smoothe like their catalog photos. Estetica wigs however were quite nice and smoothe, but, their blonde choices are all too light. I finally found a company with asian hair and that did not frizz up. I am wearing it in my photo. Also, no tangling yet (3 months old) and not sure if it is the wig or the products I am now using. I suspect it is both. My wigs in my photos are Estetica (brunette and red) and the blonde is from Fortune Wigs. I am now buying from both companies (wholesale) for my business and usually I can retail them for less than most stores because my salon is in my home and I have low overhead. Still, I am always on the search for the best QUALITY affordable wigs. These wigs retail cost $500-$900 (when getting a good price). I retail them for slightly less. My goal is to have affordable nice hair for all those who want it. I am just getting into human hair these days. Mostly in my home salon I was retailing synthetic and most of my clients are going through chemo. In my 14 years of hair loss I have purchased over 500 wigs for just myself . . . trying to figure out who makes what the best. I lost count over 500, I think it is closer to 600 now. Needless to say, I have formed lots of opinions . . . LOL!
Thanks AnGel for sharing on this. Great idea on the demi permanent, maybe I'll try that. Do you have a brand name you'd recommend for that? Given that you've treated your hair with colour, I trust your judgement and would like to pass it on to my hairdresser. ... and by the way, great news on the 90% regrowth! Did you do anything to get the regrowth, or did the hair just come back on its own?
I agree, thanks everybody for sharing all your experiences, it's good to know all this info for the next wig I will look to purchase:)
Thank you, Andrea, for this topic and I am so thankful to every one who put these information, I never knew this much about wig and wig suppliers.
If you are still unsure about which best Hair Wigs to choose, though, our advice is to go for a top-quality human hair wig, if you intend it to become your new style and wear it every day. Real hair wigs are definitely the better option for people who need a wig because of hair loss. On the other hand, choose a synthetic wig, if your intention is to have fun with your look and change your image, once in awhile.
I GOT IT !!! My GEMTRESS ONYZ......just had my appointment for cut and styling. Fit is PERFECT. Yes, they used my fit cap from FREEDOM, adjusting for a non vacuum piece. I've never had a wig fit this well. And yes, they returned my fit cap and hair color sample. Hair color match was excellent. This piece breathes! I can scratch my head. Hair quality: what I expected. It's okay. It does not MOVE and SWING like my FREEDOM pieces. But it looks pretty good. My stylist cut lots of soft hairs around the perimeter and I can pull it back in a low pony and it looks great. She did lots of thinning. Too thick or too much hair says WIG to me. How will it hold up? How will it look in one year? I don't know! But I am super happy with this piece. A perfect addition to my hair "collection."
