My daughter started losing hair around her 3 rd birthday, 50% lost on a few weeks. Went doctors and they said it was AA, got referred to dermatologist and they said more like TE and scalp biopsy came back negative for AA.

Since then she has had months of her hair not falling and then a couple of months where it all sheds., I would say 70-% has gone now butnp bald patches just very fine covering all over and can see scalp everywhere.

This has been going on for 18 months now, her hair has also never grown it is only a couple of inches.

All blood tests came back fine so docs have said "it's just one of those things" and as she's healthy there is nothing that can be done.

Has anyone been in similar situation!

I feel heartbroken every morning when I gently comb her hair and so much us lost. Her eyebrows and eyelashes have also thinned, but again no bald patches.

Feel so bad for her as she keeps asking where her hair went, when can it be long, why have her friends for loads etc etc.

Hello, Saphire - I can only imagine your frustration at not being able to get a definitive diagnosis! And, shame on the doctor that told you "it's just one of those things!"  My 5 y.o. granddaughter was diagnosed with AA in February. I know how heartbreaking this is for you. Please, just keep in mind that your attitude will have a great affect on your daughter's attitude! With love & encouragement, your daughter can be a strong, self-assured, confident child! As my Babygirl says, "It's just hair - it's not who I am."
