Hi all!

Thought I should give a brief back story to how it all began...

So I had just come back from overseas and my hair was all too long for my liking (And the Sergeant Major!)

I go down to the barber to go and get a good old cut to make me look more presentable, once the guy started doing his magic as he so often does, he pointed out I had a patch of hair missing from the side of my head, At first I didn't really take much notice as i was too busy on my phone trying to organise a night out with the lads, once he had finished doing his thing, he got the mirror out to show me his work and point out the patch, now at this moment in time i was like What the F*@&! it was as obvious as torch light at night, my scalp showing through my really thick dark brown hair. Anyway, i gathered my thoughts and came to a conclusion it could have been down to anything, I will just have to look like a complete muppet until this gets sorted.

Fast Forward a few days and a few jokes from the boys, i book an appointment with the Doc and straight away he decides it is Alopecia Areata, now only kind of knowing what this is as one of the other guys within my battalion has the same thing but he is very much different to mine, his patch is completely smooth and mine,it still has hair in there, which i do not what to touch just incase it decides to float away with the wind! (you will be able to see it with the picture i attach), I haven't gone to seek any other help or another opinion as i believe i have the general idea, it will grow back when it wants too!

So I believe that things happen for a reason and its just another life experience for me to navigate and hopefully learn, also possibly make some new friends on the way!  IT'S ONE BIG JOURNEY!

Hopefully all you guys are well and embracing the rather odd experience!

Yours,

Ollie

Hi, Ollie! Welcome to our (un)happy club!

Well your positivism is enlightening. Alopecia, in my opinion, isnt all that bad as long as see the brighter side of it all.

Hello Ollie,

Being positive is the way to go!!! After all, its not that bad ... and you're right it will grow back when it wants too...seems like there's no treatment available..
