I have just been diagnosed with alopecia areata. So far it is one quite hideable patch, but I am due to have some surgery in a couple of months and I am worried that this might make it worse. Does anybody have any experience of this?

Yes. I had breast reduction surgery two years ago and my hair fell out a year and a half ago. It has not been the same since. I just adopted a gluten free diet a month ago, as I've read some people have had good luck with that, and I take MSM and just incorporated fo-ti root. I do corticosteroid shots as well, but haven't had the, since my diet change. I'm hoping the shots will work better now that I am eating a little better.
