Alopecia areata & teleogen effluifin

Hello.

I am new here! I was diagnosed with AA about a year ago. I got the steroid injections that seemed to be working well until October when I was diagnosed with teleogen effluifin. My hair has been shedding really bad since October and now one of my original spots is starting to loose hair again. This year has been very difficult.

Has anyone experienced both AA and TE?

Looking for some advice.

Hi Tori,

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure what type of steroid injections I received. I started them in June and the TE started in October. I did have a scalp biopsy that revealed TE and pattern baldness.

I can understand what are you feeling now. Here i am going to tell you cause and treatment of alopecia.

Causes

The condition occurs when white blood cells attack the cells in hair follicles, causing them to shrink and dramatically slow down hair production. It is unknown precisely what causes the body's immune system to target hair follicles in this way. Other research has found that many people with a family history of alopecia areata also have a personal or family history of other autoimmune disorders.

Solutions

  • Wear sunscreen if exposed to the sun
  • Wear wraparound glasses to protect the eyes from the sun and debris which the eyebrows and eyelashes would normally defend against
  • Use head wear such as hats, wigs and scarves to protect the head from the sun and keep it warm
  • Use ointment inside the nose to keep membranes moist and to protect against organisms that are normally trapped by nostril hair.
