My doctor told me that i have Alopecia areata when i last saw him a while ago. my condition has gotten progressively worse since then. I have long hair atm and im still able to cover most of my spots. However even tho i have enough hair to cover it on my head im losing hair on all parts of my body. There;s patches gone on my face. Chest and other areas. i thought that if you are going to lose body hair that it completely takes all hair off your scalp first? But I'm losing hair in several different places all over my body at the same time. has anyone else heard/experienced this?

there's no regular process for losing hair whatever the alopecia begin in the condition of areata you can't expect what gonna happen . and also it can just stop or the hair come back > for me i lost like 40% of my hair and my beard is going thicker :D:D just give it time !!! sry for my horrible english

No worries man your enlish is fine. Thats Great! How long did it take to regain your beard after you lose it?

Hey Jared dw I'm the same, I still have some hair on my head but am losing it all over as well so I'm confused as to what kind of alopecia I've got. But I'm just letting it take it's course, trying best not to define it. Hope your well x

Im great, thanks! The other day I noticed a tiny patch of my eyebrows missing on my eyebrow. Thats kind of a weird thought thinking you might lose your eyebrows but oh well. Theres worse things that can happen to you in life then alopecia. I have 2 spots, one of on my hair and one on my face that are shped lie perfect hearts so that kinda brightens my day :)

no jared i didn't lose my beard but i'm 19 so it begin to grow mayb a year ago and this days it getting thicker than before . and i've a heart shaped spot too ahahaha wtever it still a spot :D

Haha awsome!

This sounds like my situation, I started losing from my face and within 2 months my scalp was affected, I still have about 20% hair on my face and about 50% on my head. Within the last 60 days I've noticed my eyebrow thinning in one area and since then noticed spots forming on my abdomen, chest, pubic area and more recently i think I'm starting to see spots starting on my arm. I just assume its the starting of AU, although if it is I wish it would hurry up and get it over with, I don't mind the no hair part as much anymore seeing as I'm going on almost a year of unsightly patches all through my thick dark hair. Could also be something in this Maritime air lol. All the best, Chris

I can relate. my hair loss isn't only on my head. :(

the thing I have learned with this disease is that there is no rhyme or reason with it. Myself, when I was going alopecia unversalis, I lost all the hair on my legs and arms before I lost all my scalp hair. At one point I was patchy all over my body, while still having patchy scalp hair. I lost my eyebrow and eyelashes 3 times and regrew them before they finally didnt grow back. This disease is confusing and seriously frustrating. The only thing we can do is stay positive, look for a positive outlet and let our friends and family be there as we work thru the confusion. Personally I felt alot better about the whole situation when I finally let go with the internal battle I was having with myself and for me that was shaving the last of my hair off. I couldnt stand the falling out, growth and falling out, growth again and again and again.
Hang in there, you will find your way

Im still new to all this. But it seems everyone has a different experience. My alopecia started as one single spot in my beard about 4 months ago. Iv lost all my beard now and about 50% of my hair. Iv still got my eyebrows and lashes at the moment and havent noticed it on any other part of my body yet. Im not sure what to expect as there doesent seem to be any pattern of progress. Good luck Jared. And hang in there.
