Hi

My daughter is 6 and she has Alopecia Areata since she was a baby. Those damn round patches covered her head at 9 months old and now she is 6.5. She has lost her hair twice completely and and it has grown back, she always has a thin layer of white hair underneath. At the moment she has a lovely head of hair and it is the longest it's been.

But those damn patches started again. This time round it will have much more of an impact on her emotionally than when she was a baby, and I am worried. She is a happy outgoing child not scared of anything. But she loves to be a princess and have long hair. When her hair was shorter she would put scarves and towels on her head and pretend it is hair.

I am open with her and I do not pretend things will be ok, I say it as it is. She knows she has Alopecia and she knows full well that her may all fall out again. She has two large patches and a couple of smaller ones.

One huge problem at the moment is that at the moment she has head lice from school, I have to do the combing, but it is pulling lots of her hair out and I hate this. I feel sick when I am doing it, but I have to get rid of the lice.

I am about to embark on an alternative therapy with Shmuel Gonen Hair up. It says his product is meant to stop the hair loss but I have my reservations.

Hey ho, her we go, again.

Hi,

Did you try the oil and copper remedy as above? Keep using it and if it works like it did with me it will all come back.It does take time but it will come back healthy.

Use natural soaps when you are washing no sulphate.

oh wow she seems so brave at such a young age. how about look at the cute princess hat she might likehttp://www.myheadcoverings.com/head-coverings/pc/Pink-Terry-Princess-Hat-for-Children-66p6137.htm

best of luck

I would use conditioner only and comb them all out no chemicals as she will loose more hair well it happened to me anyway. Do it every 3 days until no more come out, I wipe it on white tissues until there is nothing left. Try the oil and copper and see if that works and hopefully it will work like it did for me good luck. Let me know how you go.
Try emu oil! It is all natural it helps with hair growth it has worked for me ! Best part no side effects! I also am using a oil from India alopeciacure.com and I am seeing great results! I'm almost at 90% regrowth my hair hasn't been this thick in 6 years! Consistency is key!it sounds to good to be true but it is working I'm a hairstylist and I've tried everything! I'm going to post a review with my pics soon! Best of luck to your little one!

That's very sad to hear this especially for your daughter. For me, I prefer natural product like castor oil uses for hair. It is also an effective hair product specifically for hair growth.

You can try good medicines and treatment's according to your alopecia type.

Hi, I'm mom of a 4.5 yo with AA since 20 months old. Her hair is in much better shape now than when it started, there are still patches but most are regrowing (here's hoping there will be no more new patches). Topical treatment using essential oils diluted in carriers like castor/kukui/coconut oil or ginger juice (JAK inhibitors) has been helpful. The essential oils may help prevent lice going forward too.

Generally I'd be quite skeptical about any 'products' claiming to resolve alopecia on its own. Our AA is due to autoimmune condition, so the problem is in the immune system attacking the hair. Treatments or products may help relieve the symptoms but no one talks enough about addressing the source of the problem. Recently I'm learning more about immuno-modulating foods like certain mushrooms - reishi, ganoderma, cordyceps, ABM and turkey tail - and cactus which have been studied for their abilities to rebalance our immune system. Being foods, there are no side effects and are safe for kids (or anyone). I'm interested in figuring out a long term solution in addition to just addressing the symptoms, so hopeful that these will be helpful.

Have you tried the natural and holistic route? I only suggest this route, because it has given me results. After two years of trial and error- I have my hair and health!  (Thank the Lord and the Heavens) and am now on a mission to help others too. I have posted on my IG account, (same name) with so many articles about people doing treatments, meds, and all with no results or horrible side effects that have led to other illness and issues. I wrote a book and researched so much and am please to share that my client also see results. Try going holistic. It will take time, but your body will heal from the inside out. Don’t ever expect overnight success. No pill will give you that, bu rest assured, mother nature and natural healing has no negative side effects. Wishing you all the best. www.alopeciaangel.com for more info, pictures, testimonials, my story with pics and much more!
