If anyone's child has recently been diagnosed with alopecia areata, could you tell me if your child was on an antibiotic prior to the first sign of hairloss?? My daughter was on Arithromycn three weeks before her first bald patch appeared. She had a cold that we were treating. I wonder if this is linked to her hairloss?

Thanks for any help you could provide :)

I am here to add my name to the list of AA and/or AU "victims" that had taken antibodies just prior to development of this particular immune deficiency. I think it would more likely be an immune reaction to the antibodies. As a logician, I am aware of the 'post hoc, ergo propter hoc' fallacy but it becomes a statistical proof after the incidence is reported significantly enough. This site could afford such exploration but I am not savvy enough to set it up. I was 77 at time of ear infection treated with antibodies.
