Alopecia universals (AU)

Hi.. I just wanted to know what's the chances of revival post AU..It's been 8-9 months since I had AU! I had in between few hair randomly growing, but vanished after some days!!
When I had Alopecia Areata, I used to take Steroids but when there was no effect for the same and when I google'd the effect for it, I Stopped it!!
Now again I visited a doctor and he suggested that if I didn't take Steroids now and if the hair doesn't grow on it's own, then the hair follicles shall die and hair growth after that is nearly impossible once hair follicles become dormant.
Is this a good idea to take Steriods? I've been suggested by the doc to take Oral steroids ONLY in minimal dosage just twice a week and give it a try for next 90 days to see if it's working or not!!
Steroid prescribed is:
TAB. BETNESOL FORTE - 6MG (1MG X 6TABLETS AT ONE SHOT TO BE TAKEN / TWICE A WEEK (SAT/ WED) FOR 3 MONTHS..

PLS HELP IF ANY ONE HAS GONE THRU THIS OR HAS ANY INFO. FOR THE SAME..

Hi SandY!

I used to the cortisone shots but stopped after the hair loss became too rapid to keep up with. I don't know if steroids is a good idea since it affects your whole body. You might be treating the alopecia but you might get other issues from taking steroids. I didn't do it for this reason. I now have alopecia universalis but the treatments I think at this point are useless. Even if the hair grows back and you decide to stop the treatments the hair might fall out again. I believe its like chasing a ghost ... you just never reach it!
