I have had hair loss now due to Alopecia Areata for almost 8 months.  I used to have a full head of hair (85% dark, 15% white).  I have experienced a 95% hair loss on my scalp, 35% brow, 2% eyelash.  I have lost almost all of the dark & what remains has turned completely white, including much of my brow.  Has anyone else experienced this?  The hair on my scalp appears to be re-growing but I am reluctant to believe that it will remain.

I've had alopecia for 11 years tomorrow.

AA progressed to AU within 3 months. White hair regrew pretty diffusely then fell out. Dark hair regrew 85% then fell out. Currently 50ish% regrowth all white. The disease has something to do with the pigment cells of the follicles to the best of my understanding...

My doctor, Wiggin, agrees, she discribed “going gray” over night to me, where all the pigmented hair falls out leaving the gray.  For me it is non selective gray or dark Burnett , it all falls out. I a have had some modest regrowth of dark and gray.
