so i was prescribed clobetasol in mid december, but after reading too many varied testimonies I panicked and stopped using it. I was never comfortable with steroid based treatments, I have never had any positive experiences with steroids except for the odd and severe eczema(with blisters) flare up. So I did a fuck ton of research into alternative approaches, oils and vitamins and the like. I came across a study about the use of onion juice on the scalp and the results were more encouraging than the many i read about the cream i had. Pretty much no adverse effects, unlike the clobetasol. So I tried the pungent juice a couple times, and i can't say for sure if it is the cause of any changes, but the progress seems to be happening along the same time line.

I cut up one onion and puréed it in a magic bullet with a little bit of water until it became a liquidy paste. I put the stuff on my head and massaged in into my scalp especially where my patches are, and then wrapped my head in saran wrap and left it for 30min-1hr. The smell was obviously annoying, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I don't mind smelling like soup if it will mean that my hair will grow back. After using it a couple times I was touching the patch on the back of my head at dinner on christmas and felt a little prickly thing right in the middle of the large patch. I was pretty confused so I ran to the bathroom and took a look and there it was, a beautiful little hair poking out of a desert of smooth hairless skin. According to the study and the personal accounts that I read, results are usually seen within a couple weeks to a couple months. Which is why I am hesitant to say that after 2 applications, suddenly my hair is growing back. But even so, I'm going to continue using onion juice twice a week and see how it goes.

Here is a link for a bunch of information on onions and what about them is so great for the scalp and hair. http://marbohair.com/onion-juice-for-hair-loss/
