I am 22 years old and I just found out that I have alopecia areata. I found my first patch in early October and it stayed the same up until about a week ago. It grew an inch in diameter and I also found a second spot about the size of a quarter. Luckily I have long, thick hair so I can hide my spots. But I don't know for how long. I am really down about the whole thing and couldn't really use some hope. Are there any of you with success stories or advice? Please and thank you

I am 58 and lost my all my hair including body hair at age 36. I was in the middle of a new business and had a family at the time and a LOT of stress. As time went on and I had the time to really look into it, I started looking at all the issues including my lifesyle, stresses, then gut health etc etc. I haven't left a stone unturned. With all the work I've done I am slowly but surely getting all my hair back! I still wear a wig but it's looking very close to be able to go without which will be THE most amazing thing ever after all this time.
I suggest you take a good hard REAL look at your life and how you are dealing with things and look at what really needs change. Then take a comprehensive look into your health. It is really advisable to see someone who specialises in gut health and that, sorry, will most likely be a naturopath not a doctor. I have had no real help from doctors unless they do natural therapies as well.
Lastly, I have been using Aveda's Invati range of products which includes an exfoliating shampoo (and conditioner if needed) and a scalp revitaliser. It really seems to be helping a lot. I know it has some DHT inhibitors in it but all natural based on ayurvedic medicine.
lastly, I downloaded an Ebook from nicehair.org Stop Hair Loss in 10 steps Guaranteed which had a lot of info which I sifted through and used quite a few of the methods if I hadn't been using them already.
Learn lots and get informed. I always believed i could get my hair back and I am!
The very best to you

Hi All,
I was suffering from Alopecia Areata from 3 years, now regrowth has started and I am getting my hairs back.
I was frustrated, tried every treatment in the past. Had more than 15 patches on all body, 1 big patch on my beard which covers almost half of the beard, 2 patches on chest, more than 10 patches on head. Now all patches are almost filled. Although I can still some hair fall on the floor.
I have written a blog with my experience with my images. I hope this will help others as well.

my 15 yo daughter was diagnosed with alopecia areata 5 weeks ago. We are completely freaked out. The dermatologist seem to be more interested in doing facials. We are unable to get in to see Brett king. who are the best doctors in the US to go to for this? Is topical xeljanz effective? Why is she loosing hair from all over her scalp if this is areata? When does the hair loss stop? What can we expect? Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated
take your child to see a naturopathic doctor. stay away from chemicals. dont get your childs body dependent on them. also look into chinese herbal medicines.
diet is most important as well. i wrote a post on page 8. if it helped me it can help you
