Any realistic, versatile, non-adhesive, African American wigs that are not just ridiculously expensive?

Hello,

I'm brand new to the site. I have some unexplained hair loss that has not progressed to the point where I am bald or willing to shave the remaining hair on my head but just far enough so that styling my natural hair no longer looks good. I have begun wearing wigs but I know they definitely are "wiggy" looking.

I want something more natural and more like my own hair, which I do not straighten by the way, without having to glue down something on my head or pay more than a few hundred dollars for. It can't be a something that is incompatible with still having some hair. It seems like the nicer monofilament wigs with human hair are all European textured. Any suggestions?

Hi Twila-

The Paula Young company ( PaulaYoung.com) has a subsidiary called Especially Yours which is marketed specifically to to African American women. I have glanced at it and can't say for sure if it has natural looking hair or are all some form of straightened hair...but worth a look. Sometimes you can take an off the shelf wig and so long as there is enough hair on it to cover the wefts or other base material, you just need to get it professionally cut to get the wiggy-ness out.

Hi Twila, try HairSisters.com and besthairworld.com, when I wear wigs, those are some of the sites I order from. They are reasonable, human about $54-$60 and synthetic about $20-50.
