I've been shaving my head every 5 days or so because I've noticed that when I have fresh stubbles my head kinda hurts. If I lay on my pillow at night it hurts a little and pinches and also if I press down on my scalp with my hand it feels a little bruised. Now when I am fresh shaven, my scalp doesn't hurt at all. I am wondering if my head would also hurt during the first stubble period if I wouldn't have alopecia? Any headshavers out there who are experiencing similar symptoms?

Me, not so much a bruised feeling, but an annoying pinching as I try to lay down and get comfortable. I asked my fiance if he felt uncomfortable when he shaved his head once for the summer. He said its just the new hairs coming in that causes the discomfort.

Hi Andrea. I've been shaving my head for 6 months. I have the same problems. I shave my head everyday and now it doesn't hurt any more. I have found sometimes when i shave and it hurts i change my blades and then it is much better. I used to use a normal razor but could only shave with it once and the second time it hurts like hell so i will take a new razor and used the old one to shave my legs. So i changed to a HEADBLADE and now the blades last much longer and i get a much cleaner smoother cut then with the normal razor and it i do it so much faster. and i use the whole HEADBLADE range and i love it. The products last soooooooo mush longer too. When you shave again and it hurts try using a new razor and see if it helps. It could also be that you hear is a bit to long to shave at first with the razor maybe use a electric razor first and then the normal razor. I have noticed if i let my hair grow out a bit (few days) shaving it hurts and if i run my fingers over my "healthy" stubble it hurts too. And if i rub over my hair for to long it acutely comes out and a new spot appears.
Thank you for your responses. Good to know that there are others with similar experiences.
I too get a sore head from time to time. During those time I will use a head trimmer and just trim it short, without any guards to get it as short as possible. Once I find the discomfort has gone, I will go to shaving.
Thanks Cheryl. It definitely makes a difference.
I just recently start shaving as well about two weeks ago, (i finally too, off my full lace wig, the glue from the tape was driving me crazy) so right now im wearing a regular lace front with adjustable straps for now until my freedom vacuum wig comes in. My question is, how to get rid of razor bumps on the back of my neck, right now i use the gillette battery operated razor, shaving cream and witch hazel but im noticing a few bumps at the nape of my head.
Hi Linda, fortunately, I haven't gotten any razor bumps on my head yet, but click the link. This stuff is really good.

Ok, Thanks Andrea
Yes, I am in the process of sinc elast Feb not shaving and seeing what coem sof it, sparse white witha little black here and there patches. self esteem wise not good. but waiting to see how much in 1 yr time can grow , after which I will shave again . :) Denise yes soreness on scalp , I wear eal hair wigs all day till bedtime, I alternate I have 4 of them 2 med length and 2 as in my pic length. I guess I am secretly hoping to get a miracle. But I feel selfish as it is only hairloss, I am healthy otherwise and people out there are worse off as in real sickness.
Hi Andrea I see you have already got some good advice, but I thought I would add my comment anyway. The only problem I sometimes get is sometimes when the back of my neck gets a bit red. My skin is quite sensitive so I have to use an electric razor. I use plenty of moisturiser after shaving.
Why do people shave their head? It's like the feeling you get after shaving under your arms - it grows back and is painful. I heard that the Europeans don't shave under their arms, why should we? I don't. Just cut your hair short. It doesn't have to be shaven. I'm new on this site and so many people are shaving their heads. And some of them are going bald in public. No one is going to think we're beautiful with makeup and a bald head. Who are we kidding? A woman wants hair, even if it's not her own.
Lee You can see many photographs & videos on this web site of women (and men) that ARE both bald and beautiful. It’s their choice as to whether or not they appear bald in public, and you should respect that. If you don’t then that’s your decision, but others feel differently.
