My 12 year old daughter has now lost about 80% of the hair on her head, and has been wearing a wig for almost 6 months. She has been wearing the "Kaitlin" by Put-On-Pieces, it is synthetic, but is made for kids so it fits well. The hair tangles pretty easily. The Pink Heart foundation donated a wig to her that is real hair, and it is BEAUTIFUL, but it is an "Average" cap, and is a little too much hair for her little head. I SO APPRECIATE them for getting her this wig, and she does wear it, but only on weekends and to church. We tried Hair Club for Kids for about 4 months solid, and couldn't even get them to call us back, so we've kind of given up on that one for now. Our latest decision was to order her a custom human hair wig from Hair Direct. We ordered 6 weeks ago and we are waiting to get it. It takes anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks for full cap "systems." Has anybody else ever used HD? The "systems" cost about $700 a piece...because of the length, it will be 16 inches. I'll take a picture when she gets it...she is SO excited because it will be attached with tape and she won't have to take it off every night.

funny, as I browsed I was wondering if you were the same Dad from Hair Directs site. I am guessing yes? I have been using HD for a few years, and JUST ordered my first Freedom Hair system a few days ago. Curious to know how the Freedom is working out for your lil one! :)
YEP!! That would be me! (daddyof4) :o) We don't actually have her FW yet. We met with Karen Peterik on October 23rd...we got her fit cap and hair sample on December 9th, and we are taking a family trip over Spring Break to Chicago to get it and have it styled by Karen's recommended stylist. She said that it would probably be in a couple weeks before we go up there, but we can't make the trip until then...so our appointment is for March 22nd at the salon.

It's funny...last year, we were at HD on March 26th over Spring Break! All of our vacations lately are to go get hair!! :o) HD has been great for us mostly, but for how she wants to wear it, which is just to school :o), and her most recent sensitivity issues...the FW is definitely for her. I actually emailed Bill Jr., and let him know that we were going with a vacuum piece. They are a nice company, and I feel like they really care about their clients, but we have to buy 4 of their systems per year, at almost $700 a piece, and by the end of the 4 months...they're pretty rough. Everyone I've talked to about FW says that 3 years is a "conservative" estimate for wear time, so in the long run, the cost will definitely work itself out.

BTW...the hair sample we got...absolutely beautiful!! It is the most beautiful, soft, shiny hair that I have EVER seen off of somebody's head!! After getting our first system from HD, I also ordered from a couple independent distributors, as well as CoolPiece, and Hollywood Lace...I'd rate them all about the same in quality. When it's processed hair, that's what it is. This hair from Freedom is absolutely wonderful! I can't wait for Mikayla to put her's on the first time!! I will DEFINITELY post some pictures!

What color did you order? Who was your rep?
I have never been to HD, but I have been increasingly dissatisfied with the quality/durability of what I have been getting. And while I know I could send them back, what do I do for hair in the 8 or 10 weeks it takes to get new ones!?! I order 6 systems a year, so they are only worn for 2 months or so, and are JUNK at that point, sometimes long before that. :( I originally went with them for the 'undetectable' hairline, but have never seen that! I have become so self conscious of how I look & how terrible the hair begins to look that I am wondering if I would be more comfortable going bald!!! I have also had trouble in the past 4 months or so in finding attachment that lasts more than 4 days. I am at wits end frustrated!!!!!

I went to Debbie Fuller, of Fuller Hair in NH. I live in Massachusetts, so I took a short (but boring) 2 hour ride to Keene NH for my consultation on Monday. Debbie made me feel so comfortable and confident in going with Freedom Hair, something I never felt with HD hairtechs. I am anxious, nervous and excited about this. Seems like so much money, but on the other hand, I pay over $2,400 a year now (+ tape/adhesives), so If this lasts two years, its still a less expensive venture. I guess its just the lump sum payment for something I haven't seen yet! What I ordered for hair was the standard 10 inches, and got a blend of 18 and 24. I am so happy to hear about the hair quality! Makes me feel a little bit better about making this JUMP !

I can't wait to see pictures and hear how everything works out for Mikayla!
Hold On...
