I can't afford Xeljanz and I have seen a few people on here talk about using these two medications instead, but I am not sure if they saw results. I've also seen a few studies where they were successful, a few where they were not. Anyone have any experience or information on these meds?

Methotrexate will decrease your immune system after taking predisone for 4 weeks. There is sucess with some people. But after you stop taking it there is no for sure chance it wont fall out again. The only reason it works is because it suppresses the immune response to attack your hair. I am a nursing student with alopecia totalis. I have researched for many years because my twin sister has had it since we were young.I watched her go through all the painful treatments_ cortisone injections, pills, creams, sprays. After some years of her eating healthy, resetting her immune system naturally and reducing her stress she made a full recovery and has been bald spot free for years. Now that I have it ive decided to heal myself with out medications that dont last. I am changing to an Aip diet and taking supplements and helping reduce my stress. I am only doing what I know will not hurt me in the long run. I care more about my health and I caution you to take medication that may only work short term. Also you should get tested for a genetic component to see if supplements will help. MTHFR is a gene that can mutate and produce toxins in the body that can contribute to alopecia. I would get that gene tested and try the healthier route before medically trying to lower your immune system. These things take time patience to let your body heal itself is key. Help it along and give it what its depleted in. Good luck
