Well after 3 years of thinking I had AA, I got a biopsy done and apparently I dont! They don't know what on earth is wrong with me. He said there was something in the follicle that only shows up when the hair is being rubbed out or pulled out!!! I AM NOT DOING THIS TO MYSELF! Are the kidding! That even being asked made me sooo angry. I have struggled with this horribly for years trying everything to get my hair back and they have the audacity to ask me if I am pulling it out myself! He has seen how easily it falls out. Ugh I am so stressed now. Has anyone else gotten results like this? Something in the follicile I forgot what it is called and a completely empty follicle.
AA, AU, and other alopecias all show something in the biopsy that shows for sure you have this right?
Am I just getting the run around?
=/
He is taking me to some USC conference to parade me in front of a bunch of people to look, poke and prrod at me like a lab rat which I am so uncomfortable with.

I was diagnosed by my derm with AA after a biopsy..BUT I can tell you that my family doctor asked me if I was pulling it out! This is a horrible thing to ask someone that is dealing with something like this and is trying to get help! I hope that they can find what is wrong! I would try a different dermatologist!

Thanks guys. Yeah I really don't want to go but I fear this is my last shot to try to find out what is going on with me. This dermatologist is actually my 3RD one I have seen! First one to even do a biopsy for me. The other 2 just looked at me and said it was AA and started doing injections which did nothing.
This one even tried putting me on thyroid medication. He has been very helpful but he is out of ideas.
I think i just might need to take some xanax and force myself to go and try to hold it together. It is just so hard.

Lindsay, sorry you are feeling this way . When I was frist seen he did not ask me directly, he said sometimes people pull there hair out. I was mortified and stared and said WHY? Who would do that? He never directly asked me or even mentioned it again. I have never had a biopsy done, he did the patch area test, 2 fingers, gently grab a patch of hair around an area of hair loss and see if it comes out easy & it did so easliy...... I say give the doctor another chance. WHY? why not, see if he has anything to offer and he may be able to help., Remember they are only human and have to ask many questions. I am sending positive vibes your way. :)
