Burning sensation at the base of eyelashes?

I have been experiencing eyelash and eyebrow loss for a year, but it is diffuse and they grow back again.

I noticed that i have a burning sensation at the base of my eyelashes before they fall off a day later. Is it an eye infection or just alopecia areata? The feeling is very irritating and distracts me from work :(

Usually mine itch when growing.
To help with the irritation, I use vaseline on the roots of the lashes and eyelid.
