Can you help me with an eyebrow regrowth question?

I'm experiencing eyebrow regrowth after being AU for a year, and I need some input from those of you who have experienced this. The returning hair is only on my face, and it all looks like it did before - the nose hair, the peach fuzz. But, my eyebrows are coming in differently.

My brow hairs are mostly sticking straight out away from my face, rather than laying down toward my skin and following the normal sideways direction of the bio brow. I always had very thick brows, but they had a shape and direction to them. I'm wondering if the hair will settle down and look normal, or will stay like this. The other problem is that they're not coming in solidly - there are bare patches, but I expected that.

hi mary,

i have no experience with eyebrow growth, but i can make a guess. as my hair grows back on my head, it sticks straight up ( i fear that i look like kate gosselin), but as it grows longer and gets used to my styling it starts to lay down. The thing is, when I had a full head of hair (before the AA) I would randomly have new hairs sticking straight up which my stylist said was new hair growth. I think it's more noticeable now because all of my new hair is growing at once (at the same point in the growth cycle) when normally hairs are in different points in the the cycle so older (flat laying) hair is mixed in with new (stick straight) hair and it's not as noticeable.

point being, i do think they will settle down as they fill in more. in the mean time, perhaps you could use some eyebrow gel to tame them? or even trim them down a bit.

Thanks, Paula! Yes, when they get long enough (if they last that long), I'll try some gel. Right now, I mainly wish that if they're going to grow, they'd grow evenly. I have areas in my brows of lots of hair, and areas that are bare, except for my tattoos. Oh well...that's the definition of AA!

Hi Mary. Our daughter Nicole is also experiencing eyebrow regrowth that is patchy and seems to take forever to grow. She is still wearing her eyebrow tatoos as well. It's all a bit frustrating isn't it..........I like the gel idea thanks for that.

Thanks, Sharon. I'm happy to see ANY hair growing, but it's weird because now I can't easily apply brow powder or sealer to darken my tattoos...the hairs are in the way!

I talked to Nicole about getting her eyebrows tattoed and thought it might be a good idea to get them done when they can see where the line is...........but she can decide on that when she is older
