I currently work in the advertising and media field (and have been for almost six years now), but for the past few years I have been thinking about going into education. I have done volunteer work with children since I was a teenager, which I've always enjoyed, plus I am now wanting a career where I am actually helping to make a difference. My priorities have changed since graduating from college.
Are there any teachers here who have alopecia? Are there any extra challenges you have to face in your job due to alopecia? I'd love to hear from anybody who could give me some advice and / or share some experiences they've had.

I am not a teacher but I am a lead custodian at an elementary school, And I have AU so i am completely bald. Teachers are great specially when it comes to wigs; they will totally connect with you and love your new styles. Plus just like your connected to everyone that has Alopecia, you will be connected to them as an Educator. I can say that with kids any change of appearence will be noticed and will require a little bit of acknowledgement. I tell the kids you guys stress me out thats why its all gone now go away jokingly of course. If you become a teacher your students will be very lucky and one day you might have a student that has Alopecia and you'll be able to give support in such an awesome way. Maybe its your destiny. try writing as long as it takes on finding your purpose in life. some will make you feel good, but the one that makes you cry is the one that is probably suited towards your life.
I am going for my undergraduate in secondary education. I will make it work! Do what you want.
Thanks for your responses! I am already applying for teacher certification in Art. I am really excited and cannot wait to start teaching! I appreciate your encouragement. :-)
