Hey I'm 17 and have alopecia areata. It's currently at it's worst and I am attending Leeds music festival next week. I can't shave it yet due to bad skin so was wondering if anyone had any good ideas to hide or cover it? Or if you can find any decent hats for someone my age haha. Also don't know anyone with alopecia myself so always looking to chat :)
Thanks

Hi Mike, How bad is you AA? if it's only patchy where abouts are the patches, could you not get a hair cut and shave the back of the head and style the top in such a way it hides any large patches? hats are fine for anyone at any age really, there are fashionable hats for guys in River Island, Top Man, Next etc

Taz

Hi Taz, Erm it is pretty bad, massive patch on the top that is covered for now by hair. there is also a massive patch at the back that's partially covered but not much really. I cant seem to find any good hats for when its hot out. I have one straw hat but that's it.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, Think about what your style is and what would compliment it...fedora, baseball cap, cowboy hat, beanie, bandana.  I am not a big fan of Walmart, but I did find a variety of hats for my daughter,13, who has AA.  They have a variety for guys  as well.  It would be good to cover your head just because of potential sun burn.

Thanks for the reply Sandy, yeah I have beanies and a straw fedora. Don't really know what else I could get haha. most hats just make me hot bar the fedora
