Hello

at first please excuse my not very good english grammar !

My name is Mohammad i have alopecia since i was 13 now im 24 !

I'm not going to tell you how horrible it is to have alopecia totalles since that age but i will tell you about my experience with treating alopecia

when i was 17 i went to a doctor in our area where i live and he started a cortisone course with me and my hair  started to re grow in the whole body ! but i got some scars in my back skin "and it still there"

when i stopped the cortisone the hair in my whole body fall again!

from that time until 4 years back in 2009 my sister told about a lebanese doctor in our area , so i went to her and she started with me a cortisone course also " i did not know that she was giving cortisone" , so the hair started to re grow in my whole body again , but i gain the side effects of cortisone again , gain weight , much bigger scars in my bottom and thighs but i continued the treatment because the hair was still there and i was spending alot of my own money on the treatment

until one day i woke up and could not take a one step with my legs , i was falling to the ground with no power at all , i could not even close my shirt buttons with my hand fingers , i was diagnosed with GBS .. gullian barre syndrome LOL! my immune system was attacking my muscles now after all this years attacking my hair!

so because my chest muscles also was affected i was sent to the ICU then spent 7 months in hospital doing physio therapy and exercises every morning to re grow my muscles i was always in chair in hospital at first 3 months i could not go to bathroom alone , could not eat alone "was not able to pick spone with my fingers" , and the most important thing that hurts i was not able use my lovely computer and could not hold my playstation controller LOL

so after spending 7 months in hospital i got better i was able to walk and use fingers and body better so i asked the doctors to discharge me and to get back to house

in this 7 months of course i stopped the alopecia treatment and i lost my hair again !

but after all these horrible things i been through bacause of GBS i decided to not to try anything else with my alopecia and to accept it at what it is.

i prefer to walk and use my hand and body instead of trying a not accurate medicines to treat my hair!

so i decided to do a eyebrows tattoo one year ago and i'm liking it  "you can see them in my avatar"!

i graduated from college two years ago .. now i'm a computer teacher in middle school "yeah standing in front of a lot of people every day"

after my full time job i do what i like ! game and web developing and computer graphics art !

i have alot of success in this field and i'm busy alot in learning and developing new stuff everyday

but i can not say alopecia is not giving me bad feelings sometimes , it does , all years i grew with alopecia made me very sensitive to how do people think about my looking so until now i prefer to stay home most of time after my job and i'm in love with my way of living because as they say the less people you meet with the less problems you deal with LOL!

so this is my experience i hope it was useful for you ! please do not use any treatment until you are sure it's accurate 100% percent

have a good day!

goodbye.

Hello Mohammad, many thanks for sharing your life experience with us all on this site.  I only developed alopecia 2 years ago at the age of 48, so I did not grow up having to deal with hair loss and I can only begin to imagine how difficult that must have been for you.  I think your attitude is very positive after you have been so ill from the treatments you were given.

I wish you the very best for the future and your words of wisdom are most welcome.

Thanks again, Deb

hi - we have 3 children with alopecia (9-13) and we are not using any treatment - we just have to accept this disease.

@Annette:  I respect your decision to not seek treatments.  For my son's sake, I feel that we just can't give up without a fight.  What I have learned is that different things seem to work for different people when dealing with this horrible condition.  I'm happy to say my son is well on his way to recovery from this ordeal....I wish the same for all your kids.

Hello

@Deb

Thank you for your kind words, and yes dealing with Alopecia in our daily life is terrible but not as bad as other diseases because we still have all of our body functionality working for us , Good luck.

@Annette

Hi , I wish all the best for you and your children , if i have one chance to go back in time i would not use any treatment because basiclly nothing worked so i think you are making the right decision for your children right now

good luck and i hope we all find the proper treatment someday :).

Thank you Mohd <3

You welcome:)
